Samuel Research Team Presented at the ACHA HBCU Coalition Summit at NCCU 

Durham, NC — April 3-5, 2024 


Students from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) gathered at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) for the ACHA ( American College Health Association)  HBCU Coalition Summit from April 3rd to April 5th, 2024. The annual summit focused on advancing health initiatives tailored to HBCU communities.  This year's theme was Assessing our Impact:  Advocacy, Awareness, and Advancing Campus Health and Wellbeing. .


Dr. Yudan Chen and Dr. Raymond Samuel along with Emmery Madison Dickens and Yolanda Nicholson drove to NCCU to present the results of the NCHA Survey, offering valuable insights into health trends among HBCUs.  Each one presented research findings and discussion items during a session on Friday April 5th.


Session Title: National College Health Assessment (NCHA) III: Measuring the Health and Wellbeing of Emerging Adult Populations.

The summit at NCCU facilitated discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at improving health outcomes and promoting wellness across HBCU campuses. Participants engaged in productive dialogue, fostering collaborations that are expected to positively impact the health and well-being of students within the HBCU community.
